Harmonic Pro Studio HPS Piano instrument, with the grand piano, the piano knobs, the effects and the keyboard
  • A real recorded grand

Every note recorded at 16 strengths, with its dampers, its sustain pedal and the sound of its keys, streamed from your disk as you play.

  • Three pianos in one

The Grand, the same grand with soft felt hammers in a room of its own, and a classic suitcase electric piano, all at the same loudness.

  • Finished in the window

Tone, drive, compression, chorus, an echo on the song’s tempo, a reverb, width and a safety limiter, with 40 ready-made sounds to start from.

What makes it different

HPS Piano plays like a piano. Every recorded strength of the grand is used, so the loudness and the tone rise smoothly with your touch, and the sustain pedal works the way a real one does: you hear it go down and up, half pedalling lets notes fade instead of stopping, and the dampers fall when you lift it. Seven knobs shape the instrument itself, from brightness and the hammers’ hardness to how long it rings and an old piano’s tuning, and at their home positions the grand plays exactly as it was recorded. The effects a piano player reaches for are built in, so a finished sound is one window away.

Features

  • The Grand: a real grand piano, every note recorded at 16 strengths, streamed from disk
  • The Cinematic: the same grand felt-voiced, softer and longer, in a room that is always there
  • The Electric: a classic suitcase electric piano with its gentle autopan
  • Release sounds, pedal sounds and key sounds, as on a real piano
  • Sustain with half pedalling, sostenuto and the soft pedal
  • Seven piano knobs: brightness, timbre, dynamics, attack, decay, release and detune
  • Low and high tone, drive, compression and chorus
  • An echo locked to the song’s tempo in twelve note values and eight styles: Clean, Mod, Tape, Analog, Dub, Lo-Fi, Diffuse and Reverse
  • A reverb in seven spaces: Room, Hall, Cathedral, Plate, Chamber, Concert and Shimmer, with size and pre-delay
  • Width from mono to extra wide, with the bass kept in the centre, and a safety limiter
  • 40 factory sounds in six groups, from concert grand to lo-fi tape piano and ambient pads, each at the same loudness
  • A preset browser that plays a sound the moment you click it, with search and favourites
  • A 61-key keyboard on the face that lights up for every note the piano plays
  • The Arranger band’s piano plays the same recorded grand

Questions

Is HPS Piano in the Free edition?
Yes. It comes with every edition, Free, Home and Studio, with all three pianos and all 40 factory sounds. It isn’t sold separately.
What are the three pianos?
The Grand is a real grand piano, recorded note by note. The Cinematic is the same grand with soft felt hammers, softer and longer, in a room of its own: lovely for film scores and quiet songs. The Electric is a classic suitcase electric piano.
Does it work with my keyboard’s sustain pedal?
Yes. The sustain pedal holds the notes, and a continuous pedal can half pedal. The sostenuto and soft pedals work too.
Why does the grand stream from my disk?
So it can play every recorded strength of every note without filling your memory. If a note ever arrives late from a slow disk, it fades out quickly instead of clicking, and an export always plays every note in full.
Can I save my own sounds?
Yes. Save a sound with a name and a group, and it appears after the factory sounds in the preset browser. Your presets are kept in your User folder, as small files you can copy to another computer.
Can Nimi set it up for me?
Yes. Ask for a darker piano, the Cinematic, a dotted eighth tape echo or a factory sound by name, and every change is one step you can undo.
Where can I learn every control?
The user manual has a full page on HPS Piano, with every control, the pedals, the 40 factory sounds and tips.
