1.4 Write your first song

Set a key and tempo, type some chords, and let the band play them.

1.4.1 Open the Arranger

The Arranger is where a song starts. You write chords and sections, and a band plays them back in your key and at your tempo.

1.4.2 Set the key and tempo

Set the song’s key and tempo first. Everything that knows about the key, from the band to the key-aware effects, follows this setting.

1.4.3 Write chords

  1. Add a verse and a chorus.
  2. Type a few chords into each one, or pick chords that fit your key.
  3. Press play. The band plays your chords.

1.4.4 Change your mind

Change a chord and the band re-voices its part to the new one. Try a different chord in the chorus and listen again.

1.4.5 Next

Record and mix over the band.
