2.4 The Media Browser
The Media Browser on the left of the main window: your sound files, your plugins, your presets, and the Inspector for the selected track.
The Media Browser is the panel on the left of the main window. It has four tabs. Three of them hold what you bring into a song. The fourth, the Inspector, shows the track you have selected.
2.4.1 The four tabs
| Tab | What it holds |
|---|---|
| FILES | Your sound locations: samples, loops and MIDI files, ready to drag into the song. |
| VST | Instruments and effects: the ones that come with Harmonic Pro Studio, and your own plugins. |
| PRESETS | Track presets, instrument presets and FX chains. |
| INSPECTOR | The selected track: its instrument, inserts, sends, input, output, timing and colour. |
Harmonic Pro Studio opens on the INSPECTOR tab. Click another tab to change.
2.4.2 Short tab names
When the panel is narrow, the tabs use shorter names so they still fit in one row. INSPECTOR becomes INSP. Narrower still, FILES, VST and PRESETS become F, V and P.
2.4.3 Make the panel wider or narrower
Drag the right edge of the panel. The INSPECTOR tab keeps its own width, and the other three tabs share one, so each opens at the width you last gave it. Harmonic Pro Studio remembers both widths.
2.4.4 Fold the panel away
Click ◀ at the top of the panel to fold it into a thin strip at the side of the window. The timeline gets the room.
The strip keeps ▶ and a letter for each tab: F, V, P and I. Click ▶ to open the panel again, or click a letter to open it on that tab.
The pages below explain each tab.
- 2.4.1 The FILES tab The FILES tab: your sound locations, search and tags, what each file shows, listening before you import, and dragging sounds into the song.
- 2.4.2 The VST tab The VST tab: the instruments that come with Harmonic Pro Studio and your own VST plugins, how to find one and put it on a track.
- 2.4.3 The PRESETS tab The PRESETS tab: your track presets, the presets of the HPS instruments and your FX chains. Find one, load it, or save your own.
- 2.4.4 The Inspector The Inspector shows the selected track: its instrument, effects, sends, input and output, timing, preset and colour, ready to change.
