2.3.5 The Track menu
Every item in the Track menu: add instrument, audio, bus, VCA and Arranger tracks, delete, duplicate, rename, arm and solos.
The Track menu adds tracks to the song and works on the selected track. Select a track by clicking its name in TRACKS.
2.3.5.1 Add Track
| Item | Shortcut | What it adds |
|---|---|---|
| Sampler | Ctrl+T | A new MIDI track, for an instrument. |
| Plugin Instrument | A new MIDI track for one of your own instrument plugins. Load the plugin on it from Studio ▸ Plugin Manager. | |
| Audio | A new audio track, for recording or for sound files. | |
| Bus | A new bus: a channel that other tracks are sent to, so you can treat them together. It appears in the mixer; send a track to it from the track’s output. | |
| VCA | A new VCA: one fader that turns a whole group of tracks up or down together, without carrying any sound itself. It appears in the mixer and as a row in TRACKS. | |
| Arranger | Opens the Arranger, with its chart, sound bank and backing band on one track. It adds the Arranger track if the song has none. |
2.3.5.2 Delete Track
Deletes the selected track. You can undo it.
2.3.5.3 Duplicate Track
Makes a copy of the selected track.
2.3.5.4 Rename Track
F2. Renames the selected track. If clips are selected on the timeline and you are working there, F2 renames the clips instead.
2.3.5.5 Arm Record
Arms the selected track for recording, or disarms it. Armed tracks record when you press Record.
2.3.5.6 Clear All Solos
Ctrl+Shift+0. Turns off solo on every track at once. The S button in the top bar does the same, and lights while any track is soloed.
2.3.5.7 Show Hidden Takes
Sometimes a recorded take plays but has no row of its own on the timeline. Show Hidden Takes moves such takes onto a new track you can see, so you can work with them. It is one step you can undo.
