2.3.3 The Edit menu

Every item in the Edit menu: undo and redo, the edit history, cut, copy, paste, and what you can do with a time range.

The Edit menu works on the part of the window you are working in: the timeline, the piano roll, the automation editor and so on. Click in that part first, then use the menu or its shortcut.

2.3.3.1 Undo

Ctrl+Z. Takes back your last change. Press it again to go further back.

2.3.3.2 Redo

Ctrl+Y. Puts back the change you just undid.

2.3.3.3 History…

Every change made to the song, newest first: when, by whom (You or AI), where and on which track.

  • The steps of this session are your undo list: click one to go back to it, or forward again.
  • A save in the list shows what changed, and can Roll Back to this save.
  • Earlier sessions are kept as a record.
  • Filter the list by track, by where the change was made or by who made it, or use Find.

The window can stay open while you work. It follows every change.

2.3.3.4 Cut, Copy and Paste

Cut removes what is selected and keeps a copy; Copy keeps a copy and leaves it in place; Paste puts the copy back where you are working.

2.3.3.5 Delete

Removes what is selected.

2.3.3.6 Select All

Selects everything in the part of the window you are working in.

2.3.3.7 Range

A range is a stretch of time you select on the timeline (drag with the right mouse button). The Range menu lists what you can do with it. The items are greyed out until you select a range. Each one is a single step you can undo.
