2.3.1 The title bar, the hint bar and Settings
The title bar shows your song’s name and unsaved changes; the hint bar explains whatever the mouse is on; ⚙ opens Settings.
2.3.1.1 The title bar
The black bar at the very top of the window shows:
- the Harmonic Pro Studio mark, on the left;
- the song’s name, then Harmonic Pro Studio V2;
- a • in front of the name while the song has unsaved changes. It goes away when you save;
- the usual window buttons on the right: minimise, maximise and close.
Closing the window is the same as File ▸ Exit: if there are unsaved changes, you’re asked whether to save them first.
2.3.1.2 The menu bar
Under the title bar are the seven menus: File, Edit, Transport, Track, Studio, View and Help. Each one has its own page in this section.
Press Alt and the underlined letter to open a menu from the keyboard, for example Alt+F for File.
2.3.1.3 The hint bar
Harmonic Pro Studio has no pop-up tooltips. Instead, rest the mouse on any button, knob, field or menu item, and the hint bar, right after the menus, tells you about it: a short name in a coloured box, then what it does.
For example, with the mouse on ⚙, the hint bar reads SETTINGS.
To hide it or show it again, use View ▸ Hint Bar.
2.3.1.4 Settings (⚙)
⚙ at the right end of the menu bar opens Settings, the one window for every setting in Harmonic Pro Studio. File ▸ Settings… and Ctrl+, open it too.
