2.1 The Project Hub
The Project Hub opens first: start a new song from a template, open a recent one, or recover your work after a crash.
The Project Hub is the first thing you see when Harmonic Pro Studio starts, before the main window. Start a new song here, open one you made before, or get your work back after a crash.
You can open it again at any time: File ▸ Project Hub…, or File ▸ New Project (Ctrl+N), which opens it ready for a new song.
2.1.1 Start a new song
- Type the song’s NAME.
- Check the LOCATION: the folder the song goes in. Click … to choose another; it becomes your usual place for new songs.
- Pick a TEMPLATE:
- Empty song: a blank start; add tracks as the song needs them.
- Band session: tracks for drums, bass, two guitars, keys and two vocals, ready to record.
- Vocal & guitar: a vocal, a guitar and a double for the vocal.
- Click CREATE PROJECT.
The song is saved straight away, in a folder of its own. BORN WITH shows you that folder before you create it: the song file, and the Audio, Cache and Presets folders.
2.1.2 Open a song
- RECENT lists the songs you worked on, newest first. Each shows its sample rate, tempo, number of tracks, its folder, and when you last saved it.
- Type in Search… to find a song by name.
- Select a song and click OPEN.
- CHOOSE FILE… opens any song file:
.hps, an older.hfs, or a packed.hpspack.
2.1.3 Your recent list
Right-click a song in RECENT:
| Item | What it does |
|---|---|
| Pin / Unpin | A pinned song stays at the top of the list. |
| Locate… | Finds a song you moved to another folder. |
| Remove from List | Takes the song off the list. The song itself is not touched. |
How many songs the list keeps is set in Settings › General. Pinned songs don’t count against it.
2.1.4 Recover after a crash
If Harmonic Pro Studio or your computer stopped before you saved, the Hub shows Autosaved recovery found, with the time of the last autosave.
- RECOVER opens the work that was autosaved.
- DISCARD throws it away.
How often your work is autosaved is set in Settings › General.
2.1.5 Templates
The TEMPLATES tab shows the templates as a list, with the tracks each one starts with. Double-click a template to create the song straight away, with the NAME and LOCATION from the PROJECTS tab.
2.1.6 The top of the Hub
| Part | What it does |
|---|---|
| Your plan | Your edition, for example Studio. Click it to open Licence & Updates. |
| audio 44.1 kHz · 256 ▼ | Your audio’s sample rate and buffer. Click it to open Settings › Audio. |
| MANUAL tab | A short guide to getting started. |
2.1.7 Start without the Hub
Untick show on startup at the bottom of the Hub. Harmonic Pro Studio then starts without it. The Hub is still there under File ▸ Project Hub….
