2.3.4 The Transport menu

The Transport menu plays, stops and records the song, and sets its tempo and time signature. The same controls are in the top bar.

2.3.4.1 Play / Pause

Space. Starts playback from where you are. Press it again to pause.

2.3.4.2 Stop

Shift+Space. Stops playback. Where the first Stop leaves you is set in Settings › General. Stop again to go back to the start of the song.

2.3.4.3 Record

Ctrl+R. Starts recording on the tracks that are armed for recording.

2.3.4.4 Rewind to Start

Home. Goes back to the start of the song.

2.3.4.5 Go to Bar…

Ctrl+J. Type a bar number and the song jumps to the start of that bar.

2.3.4.6 Loop Playback

Ctrl+Shift+L. Turns the loop on or off. With it on, playback goes round between the loop markers. A tick shows when it is on, and the loop button in the top bar lights.

2.3.4.7 Metronome

Ctrl+K. Turns the metronome click on or off.

2.3.4.8 Count-In

Ctrl+Shift+K. Turns the count-in on or off. With it on, you hear count-in bars before recording starts.

2.3.4.9 Tap Tempo

Use it a few times in time with the music, and the tempo follows. The TAP button in the top bar does the same, and is easier to tap.

2.3.4.10 Set Tempo…

Type the song’s tempo, from 20 to 300 BPM.

2.3.4.11 Time Signature

Sets the song’s time signature. The list is the same as the meter button in the top bar:
